“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
Rest. Oh, sweet rest. The Lord Jesus Christ offers not just physical rest, but spiritual rest.
What is your need? In what area of your life are you weary? Do you need rest from the pressure of the financial weight you are carrying? Does your body ache from the two jobs that you are working? Maybe you need emotional rest. Perhaps you are caring for a sick loved one who is taxing the last drop of kindness within you. Or could it be that you are living with someone who is toxic, abusive?
Whatever your need, Jesus is the answer. Come, He says, drink of me, and I will give you water that is so satisfying that you will never be thirsty again. (John 4:14) Drink long and deep of His river that never runs dry. Give Him permission to come close to you, to refresh you. Jesus loves you. He longs to replenish your mind, body, and spirit. Let Him.
Prayer
“Lord Jesus, I want to come closer to you. Please show me how. I lay ________________ (fill in your need/burden) down at the foot of the cross. Take it. Cover it in your precious blood. I give you permission to do whatever You see fit to do with my need and with me. Thank-you in advance for the rest that you are sending my way. In Jesus name, Amen.”
